Keeping busy

Knitting while recooping….Basic sock…

This is a basic stocking stitch sock, made of Colinette yarn in the sea breeze colorway. I have finished only the one.. but the other will be along soon. It was exactly what I needed while my brain was still foggy. img_0580.jpg
I have really big feet!

For those moments I was feeling more with it, I have been working on another Colinette sock in the Velvet Damson colorway. This is the Lupine Lace Sock pattern from Fiber Trends.img_0584.jpg img_0582.jpg

17 lovely years…..

We had a wonderful, simple wedding and reception, a lovely honeymoon in the hill country of Texas, and since then, a lovely simple life. There has been sickness and health, richer and poorer, good times and bad times…. but there has been much love and companionship too. Years of fun memories buoy us along, and I sincerely hope there will be at least another 17 more….

Recovery is continuing…

And so far, so good, knock on wood, and praying for thanks.

Off the narcotics these past few days. Moving around more. Celebrated son number 1’s 14th birthday successfully. Tomorrow will be son #2’s 11th birthday, so today we prep for that. The boys are helping clean house. Afterall, a walk to our mailbox, which is a good way down and then back up hill, knackered me completely yesterday. Of course, it was 100 F yesterday.. but a cool front has moved through and I think today will only be 92, LOL.

Thinking of my parents in Texas and hoping they survived the flooding from Erin, and hope Hurricane Dean will miss them.. We are suffering from drought were I live, and my poor parents are suffering from a summer of too much rain, and now 2 storms on top of each other…adding more rain and worry.

Have done some knitting… off to command my troops..will hopefully have pictures soon.

Recovery is going well for the most part….

Am doing next to nothing… eating, sleeping, eating, sleeping.. really not even that much eating. Have been able to read some, watch some TV which is a novelty, and even done some knitting. The narcotics really take away the pain, but also make me feel so out of it and heart racy.. so yesterday I made it 24 hours without, and ended up melting down on the poor man about the place.

He is doing well though.. he got middle son through a baseball tournament, and then to the doc this morning because it seems the middle son bruised his hip with a diving catch. Nothing like 2 invalids in the house. The oldest son has been left to baby sit me most of the time these past few days, and walkie talkie communication has helped that be bearable… he can go fish at the pond when I nap and I can call him when I need a fresh glass of water.

Today though, using the narcotic again.. I need to recover well.. and follow directions.. and being not in big pain makes it easier.

I do think this has been easier than my c-section.. but there were so many extenuating circumstances there.

Anyway, my 15 min of being up are now over ..off to rest. Thanks for the kinds wishes and prayers.. they are working nicely!

One day left….

Update  – *8:30 am is the time*

The waiting has been evil…. the thoughts that go through your head during this time. I think I am finally to the point where the stress of it all makes me want it to be done and over.. no more worrying, lets just get on with it.

So there is the inevitable list.. will be running around trying to check off as much as possible, but will spare you the details this time. Including the ickiest part that needs to start at 5 pm and can be summed up in 2 words: bowel prep. Ick. Seriously, this part has me being cowardly as well.

So off to shower and start my busy day. Surgery some time Wed and home sometime Friday if all goes as planned.

Here are my prayers for the next few days:

  • That I survive this
  • That there are no nasty surprises – cancer, hemorrhaging, etc.
  • That my family survives this, and me and my emotions
  • That I come out the other side a stronger woman and heal quickly.

See you on the other side….

Back to school….

The list continues…..

  • Back to school shopping during tax free days for school clothes and shoes for children and me and school supplies Many bargains were found, and no tax to pay, and a 10% off coupon as well….really, really good!
  • Well pump fixed
  • Pre op appt attended
  • Paperwork filed with school district for leave
  • Fat clothes purchased for the swelling after surgery. This was not fun, lol…. drawstring pants, and granny panties.. but hey, its all about being comfy for the next few weeks!
  • New knitting project started Just wanted to get something on the needles… the tricky part is the picot edge, so that is getting done now while I can think. Then it is miles of stockinette… hopefully, that will be doable over the next few weeks.

Tonight we have the Field of Dreams… Eli’s baseball team is invited to be on the field with the Durham Bulls... so we will be indulging in a favorite American pastime. He has also been attending their baseball camp, and loving it. They get to interact with the players, play ball and learn techniques, and autographs.. we now have everything possible autographed.. gloves, hats, balls.. all with wonderful signatures from hopeful athletes…written for small boys with big dreams.
