Well, another hot day here in the Southern US. We had a scrimmage game last night, a friend sleepover, all the neighborhood boys over to play in the field.. and that was all before 12. Once the passel of boys went home, I attended to laundry and started us down the road of a bit [...]

We knew it was hot, but this is crazy….

…. And misleading, . This is what happens when you place your rain gauge/indoor outdoor thermometer so that you can get an accurate rain reading. Unfortunately, it is in direct sun, on top of the air conditioner, which is blowing out hot air. [...]

It is time for the semi-annual small boy room clean out. The middle son has a friend coming over to sleep tomorrow night, and it really could not be put off much longer. The multi-generational dust bunnies had to go.. and so did the outgrown clothes and toys and flotsam and jetsam that boys collect.

I saw this on Poor Miss Finch, and thought it looked like fun. I also just spent the evening knitting a sock while watching The Bachelor and The Bobby-Soxer, starring Cary Grant and Myrna Loy and Shirley Temple. This movie is later than 1930, but is in much the same vein in many respects.

Raspberries picked, yummy things made.
Sons entertained
Eldest prepared for Boy Scout camp
Banking, grocery shopping, haircut for middle son (more like a shearing)

A busy week by all accounts.
But today I find [...]

I have always admired and longed to be just like Tasha Tudor. So I am very sad to learn she has passed on, although I am amazed and in awe of the life she did have. She used her time here quite well.
Here is the news about her death:

My middle son loves birds.. and this love has been nurtured by his avid bird watching teacher, as well as his avid birdwatching grandmother and great aunt, and by the rest of our family.
He got a birdbath and feeder and feed for Christmas this year, because that was on his list. He also wanted to [...]

Summer is….

Summer shoes… lined up on the steps…brothers together, in and out of the house….

Summer is children, filling their time, with interesting projects, like making molten lava cakes…
(We can do it OURSELVES mom…)

which disappear quickly…

until it was almost like a dream.

Lucky Dad got 2.

Summer is, mysterious holes in the yard….

having the time to help a child [...]
